The African Grey’s Parrot Care
One of the most intelligent bird is the African grey parrot; this bird has a unique ability to mimic speech. They are brilliant and friendly, but, like other birds, African greys are considered high maintenance or care birds. While African grey parrots mostly prefer a routine schedule and require a significant amount of time with their owners. So, African grey parrots may not be suitable for those who work odd hours, travel regularly, or spend time away from home.

These kinds of birds naturally bond with one family member and reject others as well as mostly fearful and intolerant of strangers.
If we talk about the home pets, parent-raised African grey baby birds are well adjusted than those who are raised entirely by humans. Baby birds that receive human handling show some behavioural problems like feather picking and fearfulness. African grey's are intelligent, interesting, and love to explore their environments. They need environmental improvement, exciting African grey toys, and search exercises to reduce the chance of behavioural problems.
African grey’s Food:
Wild African grey parrots like a variety of fruits, nuts, and vegetables. This can include apple, beans, carrot, peas, corn, spinach, and broccoli. This type of Foods should be removed on time because if spoilt, fruit can contain bacteria and yeasts that can make your beautiful bird sick. Always remember to never feed your African Grey avocado, apple seeds, or lettuce.
Formulated diets like pellets or crumbles deliver more broad and balanced nutrition, do not allow selective feeding, ensure they contain about half of the diet. Dark leafy greens, vegetables, nuts, and fruits can be half of the diet. Clean, fresh water should be provided daily or twice in a day. It is essential to give a good quality calcium supplement to your African Grey at least 2-3 times a week for the first year.

Improvement in the environment is all about increasing the quality of life for your African Grey and give them activities they would generally perform in the wild. Games are a big part of enrichment for birds like seeking or searching. Search for Food is a natural activity for all birds, so it is a good way to exercise both their body and mind. There is a wide range of parrot toys available in the market which are perfect for all classes of birds and keep them healthy. It will be a great idea to have different kinds of parrot toys available and to rotate them in the cage every week.
Natural branches of different lengths and thicknesses should also be provided. There are many natural branches that you provide your African Grey, such as eucalyptus, Lilly pili, and a bottle brush. Many of them have wild stuff and flowers that give the best healthy option for your African Grey parrot.
