Every pet bird needs a food bowl and a water bowl
Your bird will need at least 2 bowls available at all times, a good bowl for birds and a water bowl for birds.
There are several different types of pet bowls available and Scarletts Parrot Essentials is the place to find all your great value bird bowls. A water bowl is sometimes used by your bird to have a bath. Classic Bowls have designs such as a secura bowl. These have spring wire holders which grip the bowls very tight so will take the weight of a bowl full of water and also a wet bird jumping in the water bowl for a bath.
Secura bowls are available in 1 litre and 2 litre sizes. The 2 litre bird bowl makes a great bird bath for Macaw, Cockatoos, African Grey parrots and Amazon parrots. The 1 litre Secura bowl is often used as a bird bath for Senegals, Caiques, Pionus, Quakers and similar sized small and medium birds.
A hook on a bird feeder can easily be removed and thrown to the floor whereas the secura bowls are much harder to remove. Classic bird bowls are stainless steel or thick metal meaning they do not bend and split like cheap bird bowls.
The bolt-on bird bowl is supplied with a washer and a wing nut to easily attach to your bird's cage. Many people (myself included) use several bowls in the bird cage to allow for soaked bird foods and bird treats as well as a bowl for seed, pellets and water.
The less messy perches have a bowl on the end of the perch keeping the mess inside and not on the floor, while a bird cage with seed catchers, often known as skirts, will help keep the food from falling onto the floor. Rainforest bird cages are excellent for this.
Scarletts stocks spare bowls for java trees and Polly's Pet Products Crock Lock bowls which are round and have a plastic piece underneath which turns and locks into the holder. These are easily released to remove the bowl for cleaning. A similar design in the SureLock Bowl which is a D shaped cup feeder bowl for birds and has the same release mechanism so it locks the bowl in place making it difficult for the bird to remove, but easy for us bird owners.
