Why Caique Loves Perches?

Why Caique Loves Perches?

Sustaining proper foot health, a Caique must be provided with appropriate perches for the Caique feet. The Caique weight should be adjusted ready of the foot, and the toes should twist around the roost at a delicate point. On the off chance that perches are too short in measurement, it will be hard for a Caique to clutch perches appropriately. A Caique ought to have the option to adjust on a roost without the toes contacting each other all around.

Natural Wood

To accommodate the feet and prevent problems, a variety of perch sizes is necessary. I suggest natural branch perches or synthetic resembling a natural branch and natural variation in the diameter. While choosing natural extensions, make sure that they are clean and free of insects, fungus, or non-toxic wood. Clean and disinfect the perches before setting them into the cage.

Rope Perches

Braided rope perches are very comfortable for Caique to rest on, and porous ropes or cloth perches are also very famous. Still, they must be cleaned and disinfected regularly to prevent the build-up of organisms within.

PVC/Acrylic Perches

These are durable and easy to clean. Often same in sizes and slippery if not textured

Leather Perches

These are soft which help make a comfortable grip. It provides a chewing outlet. But Difficult to clean.

Milled Wood Dowel

These are Inexpensive, but Size uniformity and smoothness don't exercise feet. It is not recommended if additional perches are not provided

Custom perches

For special-needs birds with foot or leg problems, custom perches can be helpful. There are corner flat perches with a basic triangular shape and allow a bird to rest its feet on a flat surface. Other nests that have a flat top surface can be used, which will help take the pressure off the sole if there is an injury in that area.

Provide a couple of perches, sized between 3/4" to 1" (2 - 2.5 cm). Set one parrot perch up high for roosting and one low by the food and water dishes. Caiques love to chew and will nibble on the perches. Natural perches from fruit trees, willow, and poplar are good for the bird's feet and its beak.

Keep the cage where it will be away from harmful fumes and drafts. To provide your Caique with a sense of security, you can cover the cage at night.
